We do not carry any paid advertising nor have we enabled subs and tips on MIXCLOUD. The show is self-financed although the good news is, we try and keep running costs as low as possible by doing the web site ourselves and everything else come to think of it. We use free software where possible. Our passion, enthusiasm and time come for free of course.
WHAT THE SHOW COSTS PER MONTH
We pay Mixcloud £9.00 per calendar month for the ability to archive all our previous shows on demand, some of this fee also goes towards royalty payments to the artists we play via PRS for MUSIC and others. It also allows The Outsiders to broadcast and stream live when the mood takes us. Look out for special announcements on the main page and social media, Facebook and Instagram.
The website hosting, domain name and SSL licence takes the total up to around £20.00 a month (£5.00 or so a week), roughly £240.00 a year. That's ok, because nobody asked us to create a radio show, we came up with that stupid arse idea all by ourselves.
The biggest expense is acquiring new music to play. Obviously we have our own large merged personal collections and, if an artist is unable or unwilling to provide a Press Pack / Promo material, we have to buy them when finances allow - because we want to play them for you! Incidentally, the vast majority of artists and labels we contact are very supportive of The Outsiders and other shows.
So whilst we do have options to donate to the show, we just don't keep banging on about it. All donations would be greatly appreciated and spent entirely on digital music directly from the artists and labels from BANDCAMP so they directly benefit. We have no plans to introduce a Patreon account for instance or any subscription model.
